happy New Day

ok so I had to start over.   How many times does one person have to try to quit before they succeed?  This is my last time.  My blood pressure is high and I have to start eating right and exercising too.  I want to glorify God with my actions, and smoking does not glorify Him.  I need a new me in a lot of different ways.  Getting over this cold is a great time to quit.  I can start breathing in an all new way!   I have to prepare myself to be around other smokers though.  My husband and everyone I am around smokes.   It is time to do this for me.  I get one body through this life and I need it to last me!  Only I can make it work.  And with God's grace, I can quit!  And I will quit!

indifferent Ok Mulligan

I can't believe I am such a looser and smoked again!  How many times do I have to restart?  I am over it.  I want to quit sooooo bad.  I do not want to die young like my step dad had too.  I was there.  I Helped care for him.  I was there when he passed away.  It was terrible.  But for some reason I kept lighting up?  What in the world is wrong with me?  You would think I was sick in the head or something to continue to smoke after all that.  And I heard the doctor with my own ears that the type of cancer cell my step dad had was from smoking.  Goodness.  Well, I put a patch on at 5:00pm.  I don't want to die like that.  It just seemed easier to light up then to fight the cravings.  But I am ready to work for it.  I have to rely on God to help me and realize that I do not want to be diagnosed and then hate myself because I knew I could have prevented it if I had quit smoking like my step dad wanted me too.  This time I will succeed!!!!

indifferent a bad trigger

well, I have been doing great with not smoking.  I found out yesterday that my stress level is about to be going through the roof!  My father in law is in a nursing home, as he should be.  He has Alzheimer's and diabetes.  Not to mention a few other illnesses.  My mother in law is partially disabled.  We live in a house and they live in a trailer on the same property.  So when he comes home on the weekends, we spend ALOT of time cleaning up and picking him up if he falls.  Well, he signed himself out of the nursing home and is due to come home tomorrow.  Both my husband and I work and it will be really tough on us.  I can see it now.  Going to about 5 hours of sleep a day.  OMG!!  I am so worried because he falls a lot.  What are they going to do if he falls and we are at work?  Is he going to lay wherever he falls until we get home.  Which could be HOURS?  Oh my goodness.  Anyway, I will stay strong.  I will NOT smoke.  I will find other ways to take the edge off.  I WILL QUIT SMOKING AND BECOME HEALTHIER!  This will not stop me.

happy I will make it

I am doing good at not smoking.  My husband decided to quit with me!  Which is a good thing, don't get me wrong.  I had to work last night.  When I got home, he was in bed.  Well, since my sense of smell is very much improving, I smelled cigs when I got home.  So I looked around and under the coffee table was a pack of smokes and an ashtray.  No problem.  I didn't touch them.  VERY DIFFICULT, but I did not touch them.  This morning, my husband gets up, throws the ashtray and smokes away.  I am really glad.  I want my house to smell nice.  I am working really hard to quit smoking, and I want us BOTH to quit.  I wasn't us to live a long, healthy life together.  However, I will not hound him.   I will very strongly support his decision to quit!  SO we are doing this together!  It is a beautiful day outside, and since I am breathing and feeling so much better, I plan on going out to work in the yard!  I am going out to make it a wonderful day!!!

happy feeling great!!

It is so nice to come home and my house smell sooo good.  I bought me some perfume that I have been wanting.  I used the money I would have other wise spent on smokes.  And I felt good to wear it and smell good all day.  It feels nice to have someone tell you that you smell good!  My Mom is looking forward to me finishing the patch system.  She says that I have such a positive attitude while quitting, that she wants my help to quit!!  She has smoked since she was 18 and she is 58.  I am enjoying the benefits of not smoking!!  There are a lot more than I thought!  I am loving my life as a non smoker!!!

happy feeling good

I am 6 days in and feeling great!! I find myself being a little more tired lately.  And a little more hungry.  I am really concerned about gaining a lot of weight.  It is on my mind every time I eat something.  The good thing is I am so busy at work, I don't even think about smoking.  I keep myself busy at home too.   It is different at home.  Probably because I always have smoked here.  I have never lived here as a non smoker.  Until now I should say!!  I feel great and am enjoying not smelling like an ashtray.  And not having to hurry up and eat at work so I can work a smoke in.  It feels nice.  Anyway, I will keep my positive attitude and continue on this journey to a better me!!!

indifferent Once again

Today is going to be a new day for me.  I am ready to be healthier and smell better.  I am reminded of when I went 3 weeks without smoking and one of my niece's hugged me and said, " wow!  You smell really good!"  That made me feel so good.  I watched my step dad pass away very violently of lung cancer that had spread to the brain.  And I kept lighting up.  Finally, yesterday I asked myself, what is wrong with me?  How can you watch something like that and continue to practically sign yourself up for it. I don not want that to happened to me.  He was only 55.  That is so young.  I miss him a lot.  And I know that in honor of him, I can do this.  I know it is not easy.  I have tried many times.  But that means I can learn from what went wrong before, and make this time the last time!  I love the people in my life and I want to be able to spend as much time with them as possible.  I know I can do this.  I have to believe in myself, and know that God can help me do it!!!

happy A New Day A New Me

Well, today I am taking control of my life back.  I do have one concern about quitting smoking.  And that is gaining weight.  I heard it is really common.  I am already a little over weight and I really don't need help in that area.  I did get a game for the wii called wii fit plus.  I will work out on that.  I will cut out the pop and junk food and see if that doesn't control some of it.  I know that once I get a job, I will be less apt to just sit around.  I do have an interview and hopefuolly I get the job.  I have multiple reasons to quit.  So in about 30 minutes, I will be done.  I need to remoind myself of how nasty they are.  I need to keep hearing the doctor tell us that my step dads lung cancer was 100 percent caused fropm smoking.  I want more out of life than I can get from smoking.  I want to use the money I spend on smoking for alot of other things.  Well, wish me luck.  The new me is TODAY and positive.  i hope I can stay that way through the trials of quitting!!

indifferent A New Day

Today will be a new day.  My step dad passed away a month ago today.  At 1:00 I am putting a patch on again.  I have wore one for about a week now and hav smoked with it.  I know I shouldn't do that.  As of 1 I am done.  I am getting in the shower and going to smell good and start over.  I have a physical tomorrow and a chance at a great job.  I wuit working when my step dad got bad, and I am needing to get back to work.  The job I am trying for is at Honda Manufacturing in Greensburg.  I passed all the tests and all that is left is my physical.  They do not allow smoking on the property.  It is really good money and good benefits.  We need me to get this job.  I will be able to help my Mom if I need to.  Plus, not spending money on smokes will be really helpful.  I know that I can do this.  It would be alot easier if my husband didnt smoke in front of me.  But I cannot make him quit if he is not ready.  I don't want to be a nag.  I wish he wanted to be healthy as much as I do.  I don't want to go through what my step dad did.  Or to put my family through that.  I don't want to see my husband fight for his life either.  I guess all I can do id be a good influence on him.  I love him and want us to live long healthy lives together.  I better get off here and get my shower done.  Wish me luck.  I am really nervous about this.

indifferent Restarted

Well, I cannot believe I had to restart the program again.  Yes I can because I had doubt in myself from the get go.  I am starting fresh.  Not just to see how muchmoney I can save, but to be healthy.  To be able to enjoy a longer life with my husband.  I love him and I want as long of a life as I can get with him.  I have a better support system this time and I WILL DO THIS!!  This is day one of the restart and I started it with a healthy breakfast.  If I am making healthier decisions, I am going to do it all the way around.  This time I am quitting for good!!  This is the first time I have wanted to be a quitter in my whole 32 years!  But I have damaged my body for 16 years now.  Time to stop.

happy Over 5 Days smoke free

I am happy that I have made it to day 5.  In a few hours, it will be 6 days.  I feel good about it.  My step dad is hanging in there and I want to prove to my Mom that quitting can be done.   I don't want to go through this with her.  Even thinking about going through this with her as the patient, is making me sick to my stomach.  I feel like once I am quit for 30 days, that I could help her and be more confident to give her advice on how I am doing it.  Well, I better get off here.  I only went to bed about 3 1/2 hours ago.  But my step dad woke up wanting coffee, so we are having some.

happy Day 2

I am very happy that today is my second day of not smoking!  I can actually say that things are starting to smell better.  Or I am smelling easier than I did previously.  I am coughing, which is part of it.  I can say that I am not irritable or grouchy.  I don't want to be either.  This is a choice I have made and I am sticking to it.  So far I feel great.  I am going to make "No smoking" signs for my doors at home.  I am lookinf forward to my house smelling nice.  My step dad is dying of lung cancer and I DO NOT want it to happen to me.  The doctor said he was 100 percent sure the type of lung cancer he has is caused from smoking.  And by quitting now, I am really lowering the chances that it will happen to me.  This is very hard to watch.  I do not want my loved ones to have to watch it happen to me when I know I can prevent it.  To me, that is stupid.  It is hard to see when something like nicotine has as much control over you as it did me.  I have decided that one way to honor my step dad is to quit smoking in his honor.  It is hard though because everyone around me smokes.  Even my husband.  But when I get home tonight, there will be no smoking in my house.  Day two and feeling great!

happy A New Day

Well, I have been 20 hours without a smoke.  I feel fine.  I had trouble getting to sleep last night.  I think it was because I am used to laying in bed and having a smoke before I go to sleep and my routine was messed up.  I think tonight will be easier.  I will be 24 hours smoke free at 11 am.  Then I will need to put a new patch on.  I have been awake since 3 30 am.  I may go back to sleep for a little while.  I havent decided.  I am feeling great about quitting.

happy Good Morning

Well, I just woke up and am having my coffee.  This is usually when I smoke the most.  But I will be strong.  Last time I gave in was with a cup of coffee.  I don't get that.  But I am not doing it today.  I want to be an ex smoker.  I want to smell pretty.  I want to not have to worry about where I can smoke when I go somewhere.  When I can have my next smoke.  I am sick of worrying about that.  And having to be sure I get to the store so I don't ever run out.  It's crap and I am not living like that anymore.  I will pray and God will guide me through this.

indifferent Retry

I had the patch on and peeled it off to have a smoke.  I want to do this.  I hate seeing my step dad like this and I hate seeing my Mom in pain watching this happen to him.  He is dying of Lung cancer.  And I know the exact same thing can happen to me if I don't quit now.  I have read all the information on Lung cancer and I know what causes it.  yet I continue to smoke.  I really want to quit.  I need the money that I am spending on smoking for other things.  I am tired of not having any money.  I know that I can do it.  I know people that smoked for years and have quit.  I am under alot of stress right now, but I czn make this happen.  If there is one thing I can do in Ron's honor, it is to quit smoking.  And I don't want to just do it for him, I want to do it for me too.  And I want to inspire other people to quit.  I can stop the damage I have caused to my body right where it is.  I am afraid of illness, but I continued to smoke.  That is so crazy.  Well, it stops now.  I have control over me.  Smokes do not!!  i TAKE THE CONTROL BACK NOW.
